THE PACKAGE

THE BASICS

In addition to your basic pay, our service charge goes to the people who work in the restaurants including everyone who works in the kitchens. We give everyone reasonable hours, flexibility wherever we can and daily staff meals on shift. We want you to feel you can be yourself at work, so if you are Front of House, you can wear your own clothes to work. Time off is important: you will have 28 days to take (including Christmas Day and Boxing Day off), and you will be also be paid service charge on your breaks and holiday days.

DEVELOPMENT

We will invest in your development. Our training programmes range from ‘How to cook the perfect Steak’ to Anti-harassment and Inclusive Behaviours. We organise hands-on training through an annual trips calendar visiting suppliers, farms, vineyards and even charcoal forests. We run an industry leading management development programme which includes learning core coaching and leadership skills. By the time you’ve worked your way through it all, you’ll have all the skills you need to be a great General Manager or Head Chef (or even to run your own restaurant!). We also offer qualifications in WSET (with our own WSET qualified teachers that work in our restaurants), Health & Safety, Food Safety and HR. Our training menu proudly offers something for people at every level as we aim to fill 80% of our management jobs through internal promotion. In partnership with Kelly’s Cause, we also provide Mental Health First Aid training to ensure there are first aiders in each restaurant, and mental health awareness training is also available at any level.

SUPPORT FOR YOUR LIFE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE WORK

We offer enhanced paid company maternity and paternity leave to help you care for new family members. To provide peace of mind, we sign everyone up to our income insurance, life assurance and employee support schemes with Hospitality Action and Help@Hand from day one of your employment. These give you, and your immediate family members, free access to legal advice, financial support and unlimited face-to-face counselling sessions. We also work very closely with Kelly’s Cause, a hospitality specific Mental Health charity to ensure we’re able to provide the right support for people when they need it.

INCLUSION AND BELONGING

We want to build a diverse culture which reflects the communities our restaurants are in, where everyone feels they belong, their uniqueness is valued, and they can bring all aspects of their personality with them to work. We celebrate a number of diversity related events throughout the year, to make sure the many communities that are represented at Hawksmoor are recognised and celebrated. To elevate those voices that are under-represented in our industry or historically marginalised, we have set up employee networks which you can get involved in by using your paid volunteering hours. These networks are a force for change; raising awareness of the things that matter and working with the business to identify and make improvements. We also ensure all managers go on mandatory Diversity and Inclusion specific training to ensure they are championing an inclusive culture within their team.
